February Employee of the Month

Early last September, my husband had two strokes caused by a staph infection in his mitial valve, which threw clots throughout his body. The stroke affecting his right side was quite severe. He spent a total of six weeks in the ICU and the remainder of the time at Arbors of Sylvania. At Arbors of Sylvania, his speech therapist has been working with my husband using VitalStim therapy to aid his swallowing. On December 20, he passed his swallow test and started on pureed foods. On January 3, he started on mechanical soft foods. As of January 7, he is completely off the feeding tube. We are sure the VitalStim was instrumental in restoring my husband’s ability to eat and get off the feeding tube, which in turn has helped him heal in other ways. His blood sugar has now returned to normal without medication. We are grateful to his therapist and VitalStim therapy.

My name is James O. I have been a patient at Arbors at Sylvania since my recent hospitalization. I chose Arbors for their awesome rehabilitation program. I can’t say that there was only one person on the Arbors team who stood out, because they all did! I had a great experience and will be going home soon. Great communication, staff is compassionate, professional, caring and always wanting to help. On a scale from 1-10, I’d give it a 10!

Dear Nursing and Staff, You ALL are our guardian angel. You watch over us day and night and many times one shift after another. We cry, moan and groan all day long. It doesn’t make you all weak, it makes you strong. This message to all of you is my way of thanking you for each day of you being awesome.

Arbors at Sylvania has a very qualified staff. Everything was clean and everyone was friendly. I enjoyed my stay very much.

I had a very pleasant stay here. The staff was very nice. The aids always had a smile on their faces and were very helpful. The nurses were very nice and caring. The therapy staff was great and helpful. I would come back here again if I would have to. Thanks to all the staff.
